The Taper Tap has a gradual cutting action, due to the pronounced chamfer of the thread, making it suitable for starting a thread. The Plug Tap has far less of a chamfer and is used after the Taper Tap to get close to get to the bottom of the hole. Supplied in a blow mould storage case.
